VP of AI Vladyslav Sokol on crew scheduling and predictive maintenance for BC's ferry fleet

Nikaxu joins the Association of British Columbia Defence and Marine Industries and BC Ferries in Victoria for a session on two problems every fleet operator recognizes: keeping crews scheduled and compliant, and catching equipment failures before they cause downtime.

Vladyslav Sokol, Nikaxu's VP of AI, speaks at the Business Opportunities Forum hosted by the Association of British Columbia Defence and Marine Industries (ABCDMI) and BC Ferries in Victoria on February 18. The forum puts BC Ferries' own fleet, procurement, and technology leadership in the room with the marine supply chain that serves them, alongside sessions on the Fleet Renewal Program, terminal engineering, and fleet maintenance direct from BC Ferries staff.

In asset-intensive environments like maritime, the operational problems are practical and immediate: keeping vessels crewed and compliant under shifting constraints, managing fatigue, certifications, and last-minute change, monitoring asset condition to avoid unplanned downtime, and planning maintenance without disrupting operations.

Vlad's session covers two concrete examples of how Nikaxu addresses these problems. The first: helping planners see coverage gaps earlier, evaluate compliant options faster, and adjust schedules with less firefighting, built into the workflows crews already use. The second: turning equipment signals into maintenance decisions, prioritizing work and reducing unplanned downtime.
